reading response assesment

            In the book, "Faithful Elephants" it shows you that some things in the world you just have to let go. It was during a war when there were bombs dropped everywhere. The animals might rampage and hurt innocent people, so a trainer had to watch 3 elephants, tonky, tonly, and Wanly, die. when the trainer saw them do their favorite trick the trainer had to give them their food. The other zoo keepers watching him pretended not to see. When it was too much for him to watch, he stopped seeing them.

            When tonly and wanly are suffering so much that the trainer is suffering too. The trainer loved them so much that he thought his heart was going to break. Once they did the banzai trick, their favorite trick, the trainer couldn't take it anymore, and he gave them food. The zoo keepers pretended not to see because they felt bad about not being able to do anything. Also, even though the odds were against the trainer and the other  zoo keepers they still had hope that the war would end. They kept being optimistic.

            However, the time came when he couldn't take it anymore. He stopped seeing tonky and wanly. He wasn't going to so much look at them because it was so painful. When he came back over two weeks later he found them dead leaning against the cage with their trunks hanging up. They were probably trying to do their banzai trick. The trainer was crying while saying they're dead. The elephants are dead.
